Accidental Webmaster

I didn't plan to become a webmaster. It just happened as the logical conclusion to a series of events and decisions in my life. It was, I suppose, inevitable because of my attraction to computer-related work, the world of publishing and entrepreneurship.

I know that I am just one of thousands of webmaster wannabe's and I will have to earn my place in the industry by displaying more than just the technical skills of a hacker. Likewise, I will have to show more than just a passing interest for the internet and information society we now have. It may be serendipity that brought me here at this point in time, but it will be a series of deliberate decisions that will bring me my ultimate prize, whatever I may choose it to be.

I am a publisher. This is decision zero for a webmaster. Everything else follows from this one decision.

Now, it is time to move forward.

This journal is a record of my search for answers as I discover and exploit the opportunities the internet has to offer. And towards the end, I hope it will be a record of triumph.

  1. I Googled "accidental webmaster" after posting this blog and found a book with the same title, The Accidental Webmaster. This means I need another catchy title if ever I decide to write a book.

  2. Note: I may need to write a blog about hyperlinks in comments. A working knowledge of HTML is necessary to get it right the first time. Actually, posting the comment above took several tries before I got a hyperlink right because I needed to insert my Amazon.con affiliate ID in the link.
